More exciting programs at the forthcoming JiWei Semiconductor Summit drawing expected 2,000 attendants – a big gathering of senior executives in China's semiconductor investment community

The 5th JiWei Semiconductor Summit (JWSS 2021), scheduled for June 25-26 in Xiamen City in southeastern China, is expected to draw 2,000  attendants of senior executives of both enterprises and investment institutes in China's semiconductor industry.

Organized by JW Insights and China Semiconductor Investment Alliance (CSIA), JWSS is the premier annual event for China's semiconductor investment community to meet in person, exchange insights, and renew networking. Under the theme of "Together we lead the change," this year's JWSS has drawn a warmer response after its announcement last month. The organizing committee released the first lineup of 400 guests confirming participation this week, including many industry movers and shakers.

Alumni gatherings this year, one of the major programs at the summit, are particularly popular. Over 11 universities with microelectronics studies will organize their meetings, hitting a record high. At the 2019 summit,  there were only five universities - Tsinghua University, China University of Science and Technology, Xidian University, Zhejiang University, and Fudan University. This year, it will also include Peking University, Wuhan University,  Southeast University, Beihang University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, and the University of Electronics Science  & Technology of China.

Chen Lei, JW Insights head in charge of the event, said he expected to have over 900 people join these alumni gatherings. "It reflects the dynamism of more educational-institutes-related resources joining the drive in China's semiconductor industry along with the corporate, financial, and governmental forces," he said.

There will be forums and panel discussions among these university alumni, deans, and representatives, addressing hot topics such as IC talent training, discipline development, and integration with industry that confront the country's semiconductor developments.

Other highlights of the program at the JWSS include the "Chip Power 2021" Demo Competition Final, Policy Briefing, Analyst Conference, Council meeting of China Semiconductor Investment Alliance, Forum on high-end computing IC, and EDA, and the release of the White Paper on IC Talents in China along with a welcome dinner and party at Haicang Beach.

China Semiconductor Investment Alliance (CSIA) members will meet and organize panel discussions for CEOs and chairmen of listed semiconductor companies on the theme of "industry  responsibilities of listed companies."

At the Policy Briefing, industry park executives from across the country will learn the latest and compare their best practices and experience notes. Shanghai's newly launched IC industry park - "Lingang New Area" with the target to become the country's largest IC hub – will stage an introduction session.

The Analyst Conference will hear JW Insights analysts and senior analysts from Gartner, Omdia, TECHCET, TechSearch International presenting on the latest semiconductor developments. Senior representatives and well-known experts from top Chinese securities investment firms, the American Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), and the Beijing Semiconductor Industry Association will also address the conference.

The EDA/IP session will bring together a panel of experts and executives to share their insights for breakthroughs on the bottleneck IC design in China. The GPI/AI session will focus on opportunities in high-performance computing and the emerging computing economy in China.

For the 1st time, JW Insights will release a white paper on China's IC industry talents after six-month research and investigation. It will present the status and prospects of China's IC industry from various dimensions of total employment number, academic background, job function, salary, and industry policy.
